Sorani is the dialect of Kurdish spoken in Iraq, where it is an official language, as well as in parts of Western Iran. It is also known as Central Kurdish. Of the three Kurdish languages - Kurmanji, Sorani and Pehlewani - it has the second highest number of speakers. Due to its status in Iraq, it has also become the most published of the Kurdish languages in written form. Kurdish sits apart from other languages in the Iranian language family and not much is known about its origin. It is distantly related to Persian.Learn Kurdish (Sorani) with uTalk
